Stone Polishing Benefits

Improves Durability & Longevity

Showroom‑Gloss Finish

At Wisconsin Stone Care & Repair, our expert polishing services eliminate scuff marks, minor scratches, and discoloration to restore your stone’s natural beauty. For deeper imperfections, our honing process removes scratches.

Built‑to‑Last Strength

Our professional polishing process enhances the compression strength and hardness of your stone surfaces. This increased density makes your floors more resistant to abrasions, chips, and everyday wear, ensuring they last longer and look better.

Hygienic Stone Surfaces

Polished stone surfaces are naturally smoother, reducing surface area where bacteria and fungi can thrive. This makes your stone easier to clean and helps create a healthier environment for your home or business.

3 Stages of Stone Refinishing

Polishing

Polishing is the only way to fully rejuvenate natural stone once its shine has faded. Over time, foot traffic and wear dull the stone’s crystal structure, reducing its light‑reflecting ability. While professional cleaning and sealing can freshen the surface, only expert polishing restores the original luster and banishes minor surface scratches.

Honing

Honing is a more aggressive step that precedes fine polishing. Using coarser diamond pads, honing removes moderate scratches, etches, and light surface stains. This process smooths out imperfections and prepares the stone for a high‑gloss finish—unless you prefer a softly matte look.

Grinding

Grinding is the deepest level of resurfacing, reserved for severe damage and unevenness. By systematically working down through diamond abrasives, our grinding service eradicates deep scratches, chips, and tile lippage, creating a flat, uniform surface. Grinding is always followed by honing (and then polishing, if desired) to achieve your perfect finish.
